We are proud to note that leading tech sector analyst firms Forrester and Gartner continue to include Retarus in their publications on a regular basis.
Forrester Research recently published The Forrester Tech Tide™: Zero Trust Threat Prevention, Q3 2020. In this new report, the experts analyzed the maturity and business value of 20 different technology categories of threat prevention, in accordance with Forrester’s “Zero Trust” dictum. The report shows users where their IT security spending could best be strategically invested.
Forrester recommends continual investment into email security due to its high degree of maturity and its crucial business benefits. Additionally, Forrester estimates the lifecycle costs to be rather low, highlighting the growing trend to shift email systems, and consequently email security, into the cloud. Retarus is the only provider delivering email security services in accordance with the latest CJEU “Privacy Shield down” ruling and making it onto the list of sample vendors.

Gartner dedicates its new Market Guide for Email Security* exclusively to the email security segment, confirming a sustained trend towards cloud office packages, such as Office / Microsoft 365 and Google’s G Suite. Even though Microsoft and Google are continually improving their security, some of Gartner’s customers have expressed dissatisfaction with the native capabilities of the cloud suites. As a result, many complement those services with third party products. Gartner sees this as a boost for conventional secure email gateways (SEGs) as well as API-based approaches.
From Gartner’s point of view, email remains the number one vector for both opportunistic and targeted cyberattacks. In coordination with technical safeguards, it is extremely important to educate users on the risks they face, especially when it comes to business email compromise (BEC) attacks.
Gartner once again lists Retarus as a representative provider of regionally focused SEGs. Besides highlighting Retarus’ three levels of email security services, the report also mentions the supplementary services for archiving, encryption, and email continuity.
According to Gartner, the Secure Email Gateway remains the workhorse of most enterprises’ email security architecture. The advantage of a gateway lies in its ability to ward off incoming attacks closer to their source, before they have had a chance to use up bandwidth, disk space, and computing power in the company’s email infrastructure.
