Recently, the German Federal Network Agency published its second annual report on broadband measurement. Internet users in Germany still often fail to achieve the prospective maximum speeds which providers have offered them.
“Across all bandwidth categories and providers, 71.6 percent of users received at least half of the maximum download transmission rates stipulated in the contract,” the BNetzA comments on the results for the landline network. Conversely, this means that 28.4 percent were surfing with less than half of the maximum speeds marketed to them. The report spans the period from October 2016 until September 2017; more than 437,192 valid measurements were included in the statistics for stationary broadband connections.
