The new version 2.0 of the ZUGFeRD standard for electronic invoicing has been available since March 11. Retarus’ Managed EDI Services are already fully prepared.
According to Forum elektronische Rechnung Deutschland (FeRD), ZUGFeRD 2.0 takes into consideration EU Guideline 2014/55/EU as well as the European EN 16931 standard. It is also identical with the French Factur-X 1.0 standard, thus pursuing the aim of standardization on the European level. Consequently, Forum sees ZUGFeRD 2.0 as a suitable way of exchanging invoices between companies, public administration and consumers.
Simply stated, the new ZUGFeRD version involves a PDF document, into which machine-readable billing information is embedded by way of XML – resulting in a hybrid format. The full specifications of ZUGFeRD 2.0, including a technical appendix, schematic and style sheet files, invoice templates for the BASIC, EN16931 and EXTENDED profiles are available for download upon registration from the working group for cost-effective administration, as are the outcomes of the external commenting procedure in November 2018.
Our Business Integration product line team has verified that Retarus’ Managed EDI Services are already able not only to generate ZUGFeRD-2.0 invoices in the PDF/A-3 format with embedded, structured data, but also to machine-read the electronic billing data from such files.
