Last night, a Retarus Email Security customer was affected by a new type of trojan delivered via Microsoft Office attachments containing malicious macros. We are in direct contact with our virus engine providers, who have already provided the first patterns for the new threat. We advise Retarus Email Security customers to activate the inbound attachment blocker and add the suspicious file types accordingly. Additionally, Retarus adjusts the spam rules to quarantine emails that might contain new variations of the virus. This might lead to a higher false positive rate, but it will increase your level of protection. Upon release from quarantine we will perform a second virus scan and block any infected emails from delivery. Up-to-date information can be found on the Retarus Cloud Services Status Page.
