Last week, Retarus was granted ENS certification in Spain. ENS stands for Esquema Nacional de Seguridad and defines the mandatory requirements, security controls, compliance mechanisms and monitoring framework for handling data in the public sector, including private tech service providers working with government agencies.
The ENS is based on a law passed in 2015 and a series of accompanying royal degrees. The system has continually been evolving since it was first introduced in 2010. Its stated objective is to ensure appropriate protection for provided services and the information processed by them. This includes aspects such as confidentiality, integrity, traceability, authenticity and availability as well as the storage of data, information, and services which are directly or indirectly facilitated by electronic means.
Retarus’ cloud communication services were certified ENS compliant for the media category. They were “assessed and found to fulfill the provisions of Royal Decree 3/2010 of 8 January, which regulates the national security policy for electronic public sector services, as declared in the corresponding audit report of July 26th, 27th and 28th, 2022”. The compliance assessment includes Cloud Fax, Enterprise SMS, Email und Email Security and WebConnect, and covers service delivery, development, maintenance, colocation and technical support.
The certification means that Retarus’ customers and partners aiming to work with Spain’s public sector organizations can rest assured that they are always on the safe side.
